It's been three months since getting the bull and as our lease was up it was time for him to move on to greener pastures. Hopefully while here he did his job but unfortunately the only way to know is to wait. So in 9 months we'll be seeing some more calves on our block, time will tell as to how many.
About a week after we said goodbye to the bull we we got a call from our stock agent telling us that the price per kg at the works was high, which could only mean one thing, it was time to sell, sell, sell!!
Thankfully Daryl was already up at the block doing our Piction-Christchurch-Picton night run so was able to get the steers down to the cattle yards. Not the easiest thing to do as they seem to have a pretty good memory and some did not want to go to the place where they got an injection the last time.
Still Daryl got them there in the end and actually got to see them being loaded onto the truck (we've missed the truck all the other times). The plan now is to let the grass grow & wait for the weaner sales, we'll buy some steers and begin the fattening process again.
